Abstract

Adequate nutrition is a fundamental pillar for developing healthy and productive human resources. Indonesia
continues to face nutritional challenges such as stunting, undernutrition, overnutrition, and micronutrient
deficiencies, which significantly impact child growth, immunity, and future productivity. The World Health
Organization (WHO) emphasizes the importance of interventions during the First 1000 Days of Life to prevent non-
communicable diseases and developmental disorders. Despite government efforts to accelerate stunting reduction, the
2023 Indonesian Health Survey reported only a slight decrease, indicating the need for more effective and widespread
interventions. One approach to address this issue is health promotion through education, community empowerment,
advocacy, and supportive environments. This study aims to raise parental awareness of child growth monitoring
through community-based nutrition screening activities. The method involved anthropometric measurements (weight,
height/length, head circumference, and mid-upper arm circumference) and nutritional status screening using WHO
growth charts. The activity was conducted at the Village Hall with support from local midwives, involving 35
participants. After measurements, participants received their nutritional status results along with explanations and
nutrition education. Education was delivered through interactive discussions and repetition by participants to ensure
understanding. The event concluded with the distribution of snacks, including milk and biscuits.
Results showed that most participants successfully completed measurements and understood the provided education,
although some were unable to participate in screening due to time constraints. Nine children were identified as having
poor or inadequate nutritional status. This activity demonstrates that community-based nutrition screening is effective
in improving knowledge and awareness regarding child health. Future strategies should focus on increasing
participation and coverage to optimize nutritional interventions.
