Utilization of Solar Panel-Based Automatic Irrigation for the Jombor Women Farmers Group

Abstract

Small-scale agricultural activities in residential areas, such as the Women Farmers Group (KWT), play a role in local food security. To date, KWT still uses traditional methods to water plants. This situation highlights the need for appropriate technological innovations in the agricultural sector, one of which is solar-powered automatic irrigation technology (PETIS). This activity was carried out in July and consisted of preparation, component design, pole design, water channel design, automatic irrigation system construction, installation of the automatic irrigation system, community outreach, and monitoring and evaluation. The results showed that PETIS irrigates tomato plants according to the programmed schedule, at 07:00 and 16:00 WIB. Additionally, PETIS serves as an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly method that saves time and operational costs for the Guyub Rukun KWT.
